For anyone who missed the Katie price documentary ‘Harvey and Me’, you can watch it on BBC iPlayer here.

It’s a moving documentary highlighting the efforts to find suitable new care and educational arrangements for Harvey, who has a rare genetic disorder, autism and partial blindness, as he transfers out of the child and into the adult system that will have to try to meet his complex needs for the rest of his life.

It touches on the systemic obstacles standing between parents and carers, and the protective and supportive care their children need to become as happy and independent as possible. It also shockingly highlights that there are over 2,000 people with autism or learning disabilities currently kept against their will in assessment and treatment units.

The documentary reinforced the need for further independent supported living options for adults, and we are so thankful that our tenants have the opportunity to live fulfilled and happy lives in a Rainbow Living house with the right care and support.
